(Zaman Al Wasl)- Six civilians, including four children, were killed on Wednesday when an ISIS blast rocked a checkpoint for the U.S.-led Kurdish forces in eastern Deir Ezzor province, local media unit said.
Furat (Euphrates) Post news site reported that the ISIS car bomb had targeted a checkpoint for the Syrian Democratic Forces near al-Shehail town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. The deadly blast left four children dead.
The SDF which declared victory in its assault in Deir Ezzor still face resistance by ISIS fighters who control an array of villages east of the Euphrates river that bisects the oil-rich province.
Daesh, the Arabic acronym of the Islamic State, still controls 7 villages in the eastern bank of Euphrates River.
The Assad army and SDF have pushed Islamic State from much of the country’s north and east. The borders of ISIS has shrinked in Syria and Iraq to be a small pockets after fall of Raqqa, the de facto capital, Deir Ezzor and Albu Kamal.
