(Zaman Al Wasl)- Local monitoring unit in eastern Deir Ezzor province said 4 displaced women had been raped by the regime forces and allied militias in the past few weeks.
Furat (Euphrates) Post Network warned people from returning to their homes in the the regime-held areas in the southern bank of Euphrates River.
The US-led Kurdish forces were also involved in rape case in the northern bank of Euphrates River.
The local monitoring group that tracks abuses of warring parties in Deir Ezzor said it it will send a detailed report about the rape cases to the United Nations and human rights NGOs.
During the Syrian war, there have been severe human rights violations, including rape which has been used as a strategy throughout the conflict, by regime army and alliesm,
According to the International Rescue Committee(IRC) rape has been a "significant and disturbing feature" during the conflict. The IRC have reported that the primary reason given for 600,000 women fleeing the war zone is fear of sexual assault.
Furat Post also reported that six civilians, including four children, were killed on Wednesday when an ISIS blast rocked a checkpoint for the Syrian Democratic Forces near al-Shehail town in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. The deadly blast left four children dead.
The SDF which declared victory in its assault in Deir Ezzor still face resistance by ISIS fighters who control an array of villages east of the Euphrates river that bisects the oil-rich province.
Daesh, the Arabic acronym of the Islamic State, still controls 7 villages in the eastern bank of Euphrates River.
The Assad army and SDF have pushed Islamic State from much of the country’s north and east. The borders of ISIS has shrinked in Syria and Iraq to be a small pockets after fall of Raqqa, the de facto capital, Deir Ezzor and Albu Kamal.
