Clashes erupt between regime, rebels in Daraa despite ceasefire deal

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime forces have breached a 6-month-old ceasefire in southern Daraa city after a ground and aerial bombing on opposition-held neighborhoods, rebel commander told Zaman al-Wasl on Saturday.

Abu al-Shayma, spokesman for al-Bunyan al-Marsous operation room, said the regime army hit the neighborhood of al-Manshiya with surface-to-surface missiles and with heavy artillery, what pushed rebels to retaliate.

The fresh clashes have sparked fears of residents who want stability since the Russian-brokered ceasefire reached last July.

Regime officials said the ceasefire deals policy is a temporary one as the regime Army backed by Shiite militias have been pounding Eastern Ghouta, Homs, Hama and Idlib.
