ISIS suicide bombings kill and wound 30 SDF fighters in Deir Ezzor

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 30 fighters from the US-backed forces have been killed and wounded in two ISIS suicide bombing attacks in eastern Deir Ezzor province, the extremist group news agency said on Wednesday.

Amaq said two the car-bomb attacks targetes bases of the Syrian Democratic Forces in al-Graneej town in the eastern bank of Euphrates River where the islamic State is still controlling small pockets.
 
Journalist Ibrahim al-Hassan, from the local media unit Furat (Euphrates) post, said ISIS fighters pressed slow advance in the town of Graneej.

Last week, the Kurdish-led forces backed by the International coalition airstrikes seized control of the towns of Graneej, Abu Hamam and al-Kishkiya in al-Sheitat region, last ISIS stronghold in Deir Ezzor.

In its turn, Daesh the Arabic acronym of ISIS, said it had killed 9 SDF militants near the town of al-Hejain in the eastern countryside.  

The YPG-led forces took about 20 villages from ISIS, pressing to uproot the extremist group from its remaining pockets in eastern Syria.

The SDF, which declared victory in its assault in Deir Ezzor, is still facing resistance by ISIS fighters who control an array of villages east of the Euphrates river that bisects the oil-rich province.

The Assad army and SDF have pushed Islamic State from much of the country’s north and east. The borders of ISIS has shrinked in Syria and Iraq to be a small pockets after fall of Raqqa, the de facto capital, Deir Ezzor and Albu Kamal.
