Tahrir al-Sham: Abu Duhur base still under control

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Hayat Tahrir al-Sham and allied rebel groups recaptured two villages from the regime army as heavy clashes are still underway near Abu Duhur airport in the northern province of Idlib, commander said on Saturday.

Khattab Abu Omar, field commander in Tahrir al-Sham, told Zaman al-Wasl the Islamist alliance that led by the former al-Qaeda branch, had launched a counter attack on regime troops in the eastern countryside of Idlib, killing and wounding dozens.

Tahrir al-Sham has ecaptured villages of Surouj and Rabe’a near the town of Senjar.

Abu Omar denied to Zaman al-Wasl the fall of Abu Duhur militay base, saying the clashes are still underway, he added.

Early Saturday, a Hezbollah military media unit said the regime army and allied forces captured Abu Duhur airport.

In relevant development, Suad Aboud Kayyari, a 42-year-old female fighter, was killed on Saturday on Abu Duhur battlefield. 

Kayyari was a mother of five children. Her two brothers were killed by the regime army in 2015.
