6 Rebel groups in Eastern Ghouta of Damascus
have pledged allegiance to al-Qaeda-linked group, Al Nusra Front, Jihadist
websites reported.
Analysts considered the merger as a strong sign that NF is occupying more influence against the radical group, the State of Iraq and The Levant (ISIL) in Syrian south and capital's countryside.
A month ago, many Islamist groups, including the 6 groups, announced fighting
under the command of the powerful Al Nusra Front in Damascus countryside
including Al Ghouta and Qalamoun.
Al Qaeda with its allies inflicted the Assad army and its backed Shiite militias heavy losses in Damascus suburbs.
The Islamist groups are Jund Al Rahman battalion, Nour
al Ghouta battalions, Issa Ibn maryam battalions, Assemat Al Ghouta battalions,
Der’a Ash Sham battalions and Saraya Al Nasser Salah Al Din.
