(Zaman Al Wasl)- Well-informed sources said no opposition figures are interested to lead the National Coalition, once Syria's key opposition group and the only legitimate representative of the Syrian people.
As Riad Seif, the head of SNC and the prominent dissident, is due to leave to Germany for treatment after months of critical health condition, the opposition body may face new pressure as no members are interested to occupy the post.
The political and International weight of the Istanbul-based body has severely decreased after the rise of the opposition platforms of Cairo, Moscow and Astana as well the merger of the National Coalition in the Riyad-formed High Negotiations Committee (HNC).
Senior members believe that the Coalition is no more a powerful unity and leading it can not be a gain, according to sources.
