SDF seeks to isolate ISIS pockets in Deir Ezzor

(Zaman Al Wasl)- US-backed forces launched new attack on Daesh (ISIS) in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor province, pushing to isolate the radical group in a territory located near the Iraq border, source told Zaman al-Wasl on Sunday.

The Syrian Democratic Forces backed by the US-led Coalition airstrikes have pressed to surround ISIS militants based between the Eastern bank of Euphrates and the Iraqi border to cut supply route from Iraq.

In its turn, Daesh said it had attacked three sites for the YPG-led forces north of the towns of Sha'fah and al-Sousa, killing 10 fighters. Also the militant group said 14 SDF fighters were killed in a car bomb attack.

Clashes also reported between the SDF and regime forces in Deir Ezzor after three days since about 100 Syrian troops killed in the US airstrikes.

The regime forces reportedly had attempted a co-ordinated attack on the SDF headquarters involving 500 troops, Russian-made T-72 and T-55 tanks, howitzers and multiple-launch rocket systems.
