ISIL leader killed in Saraqib City


The State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) leader has been killed in Saraqib City in Syria's Idleb province, according to Activists and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR).

Activists reported that he was killed during an ambush by fighters from the Islamic front who attacked the ISIL leader's car, killing him and one of his escorts.

Clashes followed between ISIL and Islamic Front fighters around ISIL bases in Saraqib

SOHR says that the leader used to have a Belgian nationality, but is originally from Algeria.

The leader called Abu Al Bara'a Al Jaza'ari had threatened earlier that hundreds of ISIL fighters were ready to blow themselves up with car bombs.

Saraqib is one of the main strongholds for the ISIL in Idleb province. Al Jazeera
