Assad army will pound Qalamoun rebels if they retaliate to Ghouta assault

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime army warned rebels faction operating in eastern Qalamoun region from taking any 'aggressive act' in support to besieged people in Eastern Ghouta suburbs, local activists said Wednesday.

The commander of Russia-controlled The Third Division, said Eastern Qalamoun, an array of small town located at the eastern gate of Ghouta, will be under heavy fire if rebels launch any attack and even they dustrup the army deployments in the area.

M. General Adnan Ismail ordered the Artillery Brigades based in Ruhaiba, Jayroud and al-Qutaifa to retaliate and bomb the civilians before rebels, according to Abu Ahmed al-Qalamouni.

Activists say there has been no letup to the wave of airstrikes and artillery shelling on Eastern Ghouta since government and Russian forces stepped up their assault late Sunday. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says at least 250 civilians have been killed.

The regime army has mobilized thousands of fighters in the Chinese Factory near the military airport of al-Dumayr, 30 miles (45 km) east of the capital.

Regime-run media outlets said the troops are under the command of Suhail al-Hassan, the notorious general who gained fame for his brutality and ultimate obedience to Bashar al-Assad.

Well-informed sources said Russia had supplied the regime forces with urgent shipments of weapons and air bombs a day before regime forces launched  an all-out offensive to seize the eastern enclave of Damascus.

Most of ammunition and weapons were delivered to Al-Dumayr military airport.

The regime army's backed by allied militias has been mobilizing troops to launch a ground offensive since the aerial bombing has killed at least 250 in the past 72 hours and wounded more than 1000 people.

Sources told Zaman al-Wasl that military vehicles loaded with weapons, shells, missiles reached the military airports of Al-Dumayr, Sayqal (Known as la-Seen), Khalkhalah, and al-Nasiriyah on Saturday coming from Tartus airport.

Moscow voiced it support the Assad forces in Eastern Ghouta's attack. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov did not conceal Assad's intention and his allies to repeat the scenario of Aleppo in the eastern region of Damascus in a recent press statement.
