Deadly rocket attack rocks Lebanon’s Arsal, kills 7

A deadly rocket attack targeted the eastern Beqaa town of Arsal on Friday morning, killing at least seven people

“Seven people have been killed and 15 others injured in the rocket attack on Arsal,” Lebanon’s state National News Agency reported.

The news agency added that a rocket had struck the town’s Al-Shaqf Street, while another missile fell on Ahmad al-Houjeiri's house near the town's Sharia court, leading to the killing of one person and the injuring of another.

Meanwhile, Al-Mayadeen television reported that ten missiles were fired on the pro-rebel Beqaa town.

A number of other northern Beqaa towns on Friday morning were also hit by rockets, including Al-Kuwakh and Al-Qasr on the outskirts of Hermel as well as Labweh and Al-Zaboud.

Lebanon’s state news agency that reported that these towns were hit by four missiles launched from the Anti-Lebanon mountains along the Syrian-Lebanese border and the outskirts of Al-Qaa.

The rocket attacks on the Lebanese towns comes amid heavy fighting across the border in Qalamoun and near Lebanon’s Joussieh-Al-Qaa border-crossing north of Arsal.

NOW's correspondent reported earlier in the day that Syrian rebels were waging attacks on the Joussieh border crossing using rocket-propelled grenades and machine guns.

Meanwhile, Lebanon's NNA said that "Syrian war planes have carried out heavy raids on the the Joussieh-Qaa border crossing."

Lebanese regions bordering Syria have witnessed numerous rocket attacks and other violations, as fighting continues between rebel and regime troops across the border
