The Islamic
State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has seized the city of Manbij east Aleppo
after two weeks of violent clashes with Islamist rebels, local sources told
Zaman Alwasl.
Rebels
withdrew for lack of ammunition, activist said, ISIL's reinforcements never
stopped from its neighboring bases, in time the rebels had left alone, he
added.
“The ISIL militants
are waving their flags in Manbij. This defeat is clearly a turning point,”
cyber activist said.
The Syrian Revolutionaries Front and the
nascent Mujahedeen Army, the Islamic Front has been engaged in fierce fighting
with ISIL in rebel-held areas for over 20 days.
Fierce clashes still taking place in northern
Aleppo between rebels and ISIL, local source say to Zaman Alwasl.
ISIL has
seized village of Handarat near Azaz, sources said. Since 72 hours Islamist rebels
have engaed in violent clashes to retake the city Azaz.
The Syrian conflict
is estimated to have killed around 200,000 people and displaced millions more.
