Regime army sends inexperienced troops to Aleppo

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Hundreds of newly recruited fighters with no military experience have been deployed in the northern countryside of Aleppo province as Turkey seeks to clean border territory from Kurdish militias and regime allies, sources said Thursday.

The newly recruited militants and youth, who in their mandatory service, were moved from the Draij training camp near the capital to Aleppo during the week. They have no military experience since the training camps have turned into centers for gathering fighters.

The lack of manpower pushed regime to depend on paramilitary and mercenary groups as more than 119,000 forces have been killed, including 62,000 troops, in its 7-year-old war, according to an estimate by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

Local activists say sending inexperienced and young fighters is like going to a ‘mass execution party’. Concerns mount recently as hundreds of youth in the opposition areas, which reached reconciliation deals with regime, have been forcibly joined the army ranks to be deployed later in the battlefields.
