Idlib: 8 people, including 4 rebels, killed in blast attacks

(Zaman Al Wasl)- A car bomb killed at least 4 civilians in the town of al-Dana in northwestern Idlib province, police officer told Zaman al-Wasl Thursday.

The blast targeted local employees working for the International Rescue Committee (IRC) while they were heading their office in the morning.

Four rebel fighters form Faylaq al-Sham were also killed by an improvised explosive device near the town of Marret Masrin.

At least 30 people, including commanders, activists and army defectors, have been killed in a week by assailants.

The wave of assassinations in Idlib province has reflected the deteriorating security condition in a territory controlled by former al-Qaeda group, Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.

Idlib has been a haven for tens of thousands of rebels and civilians who were forced to abandon their homes in other parts of western Syria that the regime and its foreign military allies have recaptured from rebels.

'Salvation Government', civil body affiliated to Tahrir al-Sham said intensive efforts are being made to catch the perpetrators.

Tahrir al-Sham set up a plan to eliminate ISIS-linked sleeper cells in Idlib very soon, according to sources.

The Salvation Government is an alternative government of the Syrian Opposition seated within Idlib Governorate, which was formed in September 2017.

More than 470,000 people have been killed in Syria’s seven-year war since it started in 2011 with the brutal repression of anti-regime protests.
