(Zaman Al Wasl)- Two people drowned in floods in the southern province of Daraa, Civil Defense said Tuesday.
The rescuing group said two young men had drowned when they tried to swim in ponds filled by the floods water in the eastern countryside of Daraa.
After five years of drought in southern Syria, the heavy rain has filled empty ponds and dams, such a joy for locals marred with tragedy.
Muhannad al-Meqdad, local official in Daraa's Civil Defense, has warned people of swimming in marshes and ponds, stressing that the diving team is on alert to respond to any emergency case.
