Explosions heard near Hama airport: SANA, activists

Explosions were heard near Hama airport in Syria Friday, Syrian state media said without giving details.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the series of explosions were near Hama's military airport and had been heard in Hama city, Reuters reported.

Local activists said the explosions were due three Israeli airstrikes hit the weapons and missiles depots run by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard near the air base.

On April 30, the Israeli strikes on the Iran-run 47th Brigade killed 16 people, among them 11 Iranians, according to the New York Times. The report said the bombardment also destroyed 200 missiles.

Haaretz reported that the Israeli Air Force F-15 planes attacked the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps after Iran transferred arms to it.
