Kurdish militia launches wide conscription campaign

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union (PYD) launched wide conscription campaign, chasing Kurdish and Arab youth in Raqqa and Hasaka provinces who refuse to join the militia, activists said.

Activist Mahmoud al-Ahmed said YPG, the armed wing of PYD, had set up checkpoints in every village and town under its control to arrest men between 18 and 30-year-old.

In relevant development, Anadolu Agecny said French Special Forces have established six artillery batteries in the YPG-held areas.

French troops have established artillery batteries in the north of Baguz village of Deir Ezzor province. They also fired some shots, according to AA.

French troops have recently increased their presence in some Kurdish areas in Syria, including Manbij, Hasaka, Ayn Issa and Raqqa.

French media outlets later reported that France had promised to send troops to Syria’s northern Manbij region with the aim of supporting the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
