Wissam Sara, father of
two children and the son of the prominent Syrian non-violent opposition figure
Fayez Sara, was tortured to death today in the detention centre of the Syrian
Military intelligence in Damascus. He was detained in Damascus 2 months ago, the
British-based Syrian Observatory for
Human Rights said.
More than 17,000
detainees who have been forcibly disappeared have suffered the same fate in the
prisons of the Syrian regime, the Observatory reported.
The Syrian regime has arrested more than
100,000 people since the uprising erupted in March 2011, the death toll has
topped 136,000, according to the
watchdog.
