Ten people killed in US strikes on Deir Ezzor

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The US-led coalition airstrikes have killed ten civilians in airstrikes pounded the last pockets of Daesh in eastern Deir Ezzor province, activists said Thursday.

The strikes targeted on the town of al-Baouz al-Fouqani in the eastern bank of Euphrates River, activist Taj Allaow told Zaman al-Wasl.

Two children were among the causalities.

More than 1000 civilians have been killed by the US and allied international parties in less than a year.

In its turn, Daesh fighters attacked bastions of the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces. The attack near al-Sha'fah town followed slow gains by the YPG-led forces in the oil-rich region.

The paramilitary group backed by the U.S. and French artillery has pushed Daesh fighters to retreat from the district of al-Hawama near the town of al-Hajeen, the key stronghold of ISIS near the Iraqi border.

Daesh lost most of its territory in Syria last year, but retained some remote desert areas and has attacked the army and allied forces in recent weeks. The coalition also recently restarted its own campaign against the militant group in Syria.

Last week, 10 families of ISIS members surrendered to the SDF, who in turn transferred them to the American base in the town of al-Bahra, according to the sources.
