US-backed Kurdish forces attack Daesh in Hasaka

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The U.S.-backed Syrian forces launched major attack on Daesh (ISIS) in the last pockets in northeastern Hasaka province, the group's news feeds said Sunday.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) backed by the US-led airstrikes aim to seize the towns of al-Dshaisha and Tel Shayer in the southern countryside of Hasaka, sources told Zaman al-Wasl.

Clashes are still underway between Daesh and the SDF.

At least 20 civilians have been killed by the U.S.-led airstrikes al-Dshaisha and tel Shayer in the last 48 hours, activists said.

The U.S.-led airstrikes have killed more than 2000 civilians and have displaced thousands more, according to the United Nations.

The SDF, which the Kurdish YPG militia spearheads, has been the main partner of the U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State in Syria, helping drive the jihadists out of swathes of northern and eastern Syria last year.
