(Zaman Al Wasl)- U.S.-led airstrikes killed ten people on Monday in the northeastern province of Hasaka as the Kurdish-led forces press to capture last pockets of Daesh (ISIS) near the Iraqi border, local sources said.
The US strikes targeted the village of al-Jazza'a in the al-Dshaisha region, leaving 10 people killed and dozen more wounded. Activists said the US fighter jets had pounded the area with cluster bombs.
The U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces launched on Sunday major attack on Daesh in the towns of al-Dshaisha and Tel Shayer in the southern countryside of Hasaka.
At least 30 civilians have been killed by the U.S.-led airstrikes al-Dshaisha and tel Shayer in the last 72 hours, activists said.
The U.S.-led airstrikes have killed more than 2000 civilians and have displaced thousands more, according to the United Nations.
The SDF, which the Kurdish YPG militia spearheads, has been the main partner of the U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State in Syria, helping drive the jihadists out of swathes of northern and eastern Syria last year.
In relevant development, a military base hosting American and French troops in northern Syria’s Ain Issa town was hit by an explosion on Sunday night, according to local sources in Raqqa on Monday, Anadolu Agency reported.
Ain Issa in northern Raqqah is under the control of the YPG militia, the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity due to restrictions on talking to the media, said.
The base reportedly hosts around 200 American and 75 French troops. It remains unclear if there have been any casualties following the blast.
