Damascus, Sep.2 (SANA) Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani met Wednesday with a delegation from Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, headed by State Secretary Niels Annen, to discuss ways to strengthen economic and development cooperation between Syria and Germany and support national recovery and reconstruction priorities.
The discussions covered projects carried out by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the German Development Bank (KfW), as well as ways to expand cooperation in line with Syria’s national recovery and reconstruction priorities.
The two sides also discussed encouraging German investments and companies to operate in Syria and developing cooperation in the banking sector, in addition to supporting infrastructure projects and the health, education and housing sectors.
The meeting comes amid efforts to expand economic and development cooperation between Syria and Germany and support projects contributing to recovery and reconstruction.
Earlier on Wednesday, Minister al-Shaibani held an expanded meeting with a European Union delegation headed by Henrike Trautmann, Director for the Middle East, North Africa and Gulf to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and broaden cooperation between the Syrian Arab Republic and the European Union.
