SDF, Regime forces make prisoner swap in eastern Deir Ezzor

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces have made prisoner swap with regime army in eastern Deir Ezzor province, local activists said Friday.

Two regime troops were freed by the SDF in the town of al-Salhiya in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor. In return, the regime forces have released 3 SDF militants who were arrested by pro-regime militias weeks ago.

The SDF, which the Kurdish YPG militia spearheads, has been the main partner of the U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State in Syria, helping drive the jihadists out of swathes of northern and eastern Syria last year.

Last week, the YPG-led forces arrested about 100 people in Deir Ezzor, saying they have links with Daesh and the regime.

The Intelligence service of the Syrian Democratic Forces has carried out major arrest campaign in former Daesh areas, tracking people mostly from the tribal areas, activist Taj Allaw told Zaman al-Wasl Friday.
