Daesh-suspected blast kills 4 civilians in Deir Ezzor

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 11 people, including 7 SDF fighters, were killed on Friday in a car bomb attack targeted Kurdish-led forces in eastern Deir Ezzor province, local activist told Zaman al-Wasl.

The Daesh-suspected attack took place in the town of al-Bseera east of Deir Ezzor city. Seven fighters from the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) were killed as dozen of civilians were also killed and wounded, according to activist Taj Allow.

The attack followed gains by the SDF in Deir Ezzor and Hasaka provinces this week.

The YPG-led forces seized seven villages from Daesh along the border with Iraq backed the French and the U.S. airstrikes. The SDF has also seized the villages of Qabr Taha and al-Madina east of the Kurdish-held town of al-Shaddadi in Hasaka province..

The SDF has been the main partner of the U.S.-led coalition against Islamic State in Syria, helping drive the jihadists out of swathes of northern and eastern Syria last year.

Clashes are still underway between the SDF and Daesh in the Twaimin district near the city of Hasaka, according to activist Mohamed al-Kheder.

Also in Deir Ezzor, the SDF fighters have arrested about 100 people, saying they have links with Daesh and the regime.

The Intelligence service of the Syrian Democratic Forces has carried out major arrest campaign in former Daesh areas, tracking people mostly from the tribal areas.
