Assailants kill rebel commander in northern Idlib

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Unknown assailants killed senior commander in a Turkish-backed rebel group in northern Syria, local reporter said Saturday.

Abu Ahmed Sensawi, commander in the Sultan Ibrahim Brigade, was shot dead early Saturday in the town of al-Dana. The attack followed an assassination attempt targeted anther commander in Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the former al-Qaeda branch in Syria.

Memebrs of Jaish al-Izza, another Free Syrian Army unit, have come under the assailants fire in the town of Khan Sheikhoun.

In Saraqeb, the military commander of HTS was killed and several more wounded when an armed group opened fire on them neat the town.

The formerly known as Nusra Front has been under daily threat by Daesh loyalist and its sleeper cells. 

Tahrir al-Sham has also accused Russia, saying sleeper cells led by the Russian air base in Hmeimym have carried out some attacks.

During the week, Daesh in the eastern countryside of Idlib slaughtered Two HTS members.
 
Tahrir al-Sham on Friday has executed a Jordanian national said he was a senior commander in Daesh in Idlib.

Idlib has been a haven for tens of thousands of rebels and 2.3mn civilians who were forced to abandon their homes in other parts of western Syria that the regime and its foreign military allies have recaptured from rebels.

Syria has been locked in a devastating war since March 2011, when the Bashar al-Assad regime cracked down on pro-democracy protests with unexpected ferocity. UN and local monitoring groups says more than 400,000 people have been killed and million have been displaced.
