Journalist killed in south Syria fighting: state media

A Syrian journalist working with a pro-regime television network has been killed in the southern province of Quneitra, where government forces are battling rebels, state media said Monday.

Regime forces have been bombarding rebel-held territory in the region, retaking the area bordering the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

The journalist, Mustafa Salama, was killed in Qunaitra province after "being injured by shelling from terrorist groups in the Masshara area," the official SANA news agency reported.

The Sama station he worked for described him as a "hero" and said he died "while covering the advance of the Syrian Arab Army on the Qunaitra front."
