(Zaman Al Wasl)- Prominent Syrian actress Mai Skaf has passed away due to a heart attack in Paris, fellow artist Faris al-Hilou said on official Facebook page Monday.
Skaf, 49, was known for her pro-revolution stance since the early days of peaceful protests in March 2011.
Skaf was born in Damascus and was best known for her work in histroic soap operas.
The last post for Skaf on her Facebook page was on Saturday. She said: "I will never lose hope; I will never lose hope. It is the Great Syria. It will never be the Assad's Syria."
The outspoken woman was arretsed and persecuted several times by the regime secuity before fleeing the country to Paris.
Syrian fans were quick to take to social media as news broke, sending condolences to Skaf's loved ones.
