(Zaman Al Wasl)- A senior commander in Hayat Tahrir al-Sham was killed Thursday when unknown assailants opened fire on him in northern Idlib province, local activists said.

Abu Aisha al-Tunisi, Tunisian jihadist, was killed in the town of Has, the stronghold of the former a-Qaeda group.

The state of security chaos has been continued in Idlib province as tens of Tahrir al-Sham members have been killed in the last few weeks.

5 more people were killed in IED explosion near the town of Sarmin on Thursday.

Tahrir al-Sham has been tracking ISIS sleeper cells in Idlib after a series of assassinations targeted its commanders in the recent weeks.

The formerly known as Nusra Front says the sleeper cells in Idlib are being led by the Russia from its coastal air base in Hmeimym.

More Daesh cells to be eliminated very soon after intense efforts by the domestic security, rebel commander told Zaman al-Wasl.

Idlib has been a haven for tens of thousands of rebels and 2.3mn civilians who were forced to abandon their homes in other parts of western Syria that the regime and its foreign military allies have recaptured from rebels.
