(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime forces have retreated partially from two neighborhoods in southern Daraa city due to deal brokered by Russian and the opposition groups, local sources said Friday.
The regime troops have withdrawn al-Manshiyah and Sajneh neighborhoods to their barracks in Daraa al-Mahata.
The move followed a deal brokered by Russia to deploy its military police instead of the regime's presence. Meanwhile the Civil Committee in Daraa urged the displaced to return back to their homes in Sajneh neighborhood.
The area in southwestern Syria, between the border city of Daraa and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, has emerged as a flashpoint in a wider standoff between regional archrivals Israel and Iran.
