(Zaman Al Wasl)- Syrian regime forces backed by allied militias have launched major offeiensive to uproot rebels from last stronghold in Latakia province, local activists said Saturday.
The offensive seeks to take full control of Jabal al-Turkman, a de-escalation zone controlled by Turkish-backed fighters.
Skirmishes between regime forces and rebels were reported over the past few weeks in Jabal al-Turkman despite regional efforts to maintain the ceasefire deal in the coastal area.
Rebels say the provocations of regime army have increased in the coastal region after the Turkish army set up its 12 observation points in areas overlooking on the Bashar al-Assad’s stronghold in Latakia province.
