Syrian refugee brutally beaten by Lebanese police: footage

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Social media activists surfaced footage for Lebanese police beating a Syrian refugee in detention center.

According to Lebanese news feeds the refugee was subjected to a severe torture by the police of  of Armon town in the Aley district. 

The video showed one of the police officers punching the refugee from Shatila camp.

Activists said the police found photo on the refugee mobile showed him carrying weapon. 

The man was arrested without any legal right in clear violation of the Lebanese law.

Lebanon has one million registered Syrian refugees, but believes the number is more like 1.5 million.

Syrian refugees in Lebanon have called on the UN refugee agency to protect them from the abuses of Lebanese security that uses the identity of UNHCR employees to delude refugees in its latest arrest campaign.

Lebanese officials have accused the UN refugee agency of deliberately discouraging refugees from returning.
