391 Civilians Killed in Syria in August: SNHR

(Zaman Al Wasl)- At least 391 people were killed in August by the warring parties in Syria, including 275 civilians lost their lives by the Syrian regime and and key ally Russia, the Syrian Network for Human Rights said.

. Syrian regime forces killed 239 civilians, including 13 children, eight women (adult female), and 194 victims who died due to torture, while forces believed to be Russian killed 36 civilians, including 20 children and seven women.

According to the SNHR, August recorded a notable drop in civilian death numbers, as rates of military operations by the parties to the conflict in Syria diminished across Syria.

On the other hand, new names of dead forcibly-disappeared persons, who were detained by Syrian regime forces, came into light for the month in a row in August as they were listed as dead at civil registration offices. 

These discoveries were made either when their families went to those offices for some kind of civil paperwork or through lists publicized by civil registration offices which contained the names of forcibly-disappeared persons who died due to torture. 

The report added that numbers of civilian deaths that were the result of different bombings or assassination are still on a rise for the fifth month in a row.
 
The report records that 6,036 civilians has been killed since the start of 2018 at the hands of the parties to the conflict in Syria. Of those, Syrian-Russian alliance forces were responsible for the killing of 4,419.
