Idlib: Tahrir al-Sham, National Liberation Front halt infighting

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The National Liberation Front (NLF) and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham jihadist group have reached an agreement on Wednesday to end the infighting in northern Idlib province.

According to the handwritten agreement, the key armed groups agreed to halt clashes which erupted on Tuesday where both patires will return to its territory in the southern countryside of Idlib.

A local source told Zaman al-Wasl that two civilians were killed more wounded in the clashes.

More than half of Idlib province is controlled by Tahrir al-Sham, a jihadist alliance led by Syria's former Al-Qaeda affiliate, while Turkish-backed rebels hold much of the rest.

The agreement also calls to the release of detainees from both sides.

Idlib has been a haven for tens of thousands of rebels and 2.3mn civilians who were forced to abandon their homes in other parts of western Syria that the regime and its foreign military allies have recaptured from rebels.
