(Zaman Al Wasl)- Prominent Syrian photojournalist, Amer al-Mawhebani, known as Amer al-Shami, was honoured on Monday by a French Varenne foundation for his work and courage.
The Varenne Foundation presented him with its grand prize in the photojournalism category for his picture of a wounded child in field hospital in the suburb of Zamalka in the eastern district of Damascus.
The photo was taken for AFP this year during the regime’s deadliest offensive on Ghouta suburbs between Feb 18 and March 25.
The former Agence France-Presse's correspondent in Eastern Ghouta suburbs told Zaman al-Wasl that such a prize contributes in delivering the voice of Syrian people.
It is the best way to counter the war propaganda of the Syrian regime to expose its crimes over the past 8 years, he added.
