(Zaman Al Wasl)- Some moneychangers and jewelers in northern Idlib province have staged a strike over the killing of their fellow by gangsters, urging to local rebel factions to halt such crimes and to enhance security.
Lutfi Tanari, jeweler, told Zaman al-Wasl that the thieves opened fire on two moneychangers in Sarmada town, leaving one of them killed. After that they stole their jewelry and money.
More than half of Idlib province is controlled by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, a jihadist alliance led by Syria's former Al-Qaeda affiliate, while Turkish-backed rebels hold much of the rest.
Idlib's population has swelled as the regime chalked up a series of victories in other parts of the country, reaching evacuation deals that saw tens of thousands of people bussed to the northwestern province.
