(Zaman Al Wasl)- Hamad al-Nada toured all the bakeries of the southern and northern Al-Hasakah city in search of a bundle of bread but in vain, due to the fact that 30 private bakeries in Hasaka city stopped working, for the second day in a row because they were not supplied with flour by the general mills.
َAl-Nada, 40, says he left his home in the Nassirah neighborhood early in the morning, to look for bread for his five children and their mother, at the government bakeries after the private ones have closed. But the bread disappeared from the bakeries of the neighborhood of al-Massaken, Goyeran and Tel Hajar, which are, during the normal conditions, the source of the bread for the inhabitants. But not a single loaf of bread was found.
Workers at the Goyeran bakery’s excuse was that, the flour had didn’t arrive on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the man was told that it was w day off for the bakery of al-Massaken, which is under the control of the regime. And he was unable to enter Tel Hajar bakery, because the entrance was restricted to the elements of the Democratic Union Party and Salhia to the east of the city.
The party's armed forces and elements of the regime do not hesitate to exploit the inhabitants, especially women, in exchange for the supply of bread, in light of the acute shortage of bread in the province.
The price of the bundle of bread has increased, at traders in the black market, from 200 S.P last week to 300 S.P today. The residents of Hasaka returned to buy the loaf of bread for 45 S.P after they bought the package at 130 S.P from the delegates.
In the countryside, too, the delegates have brought back bread to their villages for almost a week, while government bakeries have stopped distributing bread directly to citizens for more than a year. But the private bakeries have monthly subscriptions only for the population in their vicinity, and are currently without bread.
The director of the branch of the General Mills Company in Qamishli, Girgis Qumi said in a media statement, that the distribution of the flour for private bakeries has stopped, due to the lack of quantities of wheat received for mills as a result of delayed shipment from the storage center of "Germs" and livestock in Qamishli due to rain and weather conditions.
