Regime’s decision to close Syrian Embassy in Kuwait causes disturbance in Syrian community and encourages bribery.
Syrian Regime’s decision to close its Embassy in Kuwait caused great deal of disruption among Syrian community in the country, subsequently, dozens of Syrians queued in front of the Embassy hoping to get their pending official procedures and applications finished before closing the Embassy.
The problem did not stop on that, sources reported to Zaman Alwasl that closing announcement and stopping receiving new applications, encouraged bribery, as the Embassy’s employees took a chance of the new circumstances to finish some applications for big amount of money.
On the other hand, inside the Embassy, employees started to get annoyed because they were threatened of losing their jobs, other privileges and possibility of getting extra money under the table. It is reported that an employee announced that he would defected from the regime if the Embassy is to close down.
Syrian Embassy’s employees in both Saudi Arabia and Kuwait encouraged Syrian communities there to put pressure on the foreign affair office to hold or stop the closure decision. They claimed that closing Embassies would harm Syrian communities, without mentioning their keen to keep their jobs and positions and their fear from returning to the Syria.
