Assad's soldiers in captivity renew release appeals

“I never imagined that our calls to get our freedom from captivity by Free Syrian Army  would be without impact and would not resonate the Syrian regime,” a captive officer from the Syrian Army said, who was detained by Liwa al-Twhid, rebel islamist group.

The officer has expressed shock as tens of Syrian Army soldiers still in captivity while Assad's regime has made many exchange dealing with Syrian rebels, "we are not Iranians or nuns," he added.

For the first time, 40 officers from the Syrian Army said: “we just want the regime to treat us like it has treated Shiites and Christians in Maaloula and Yabrud” they said that after their first appeal to the regime two month ago was ignored, as the regime refused to accept the FSA demands of freeing 1000 detainees of the opposition. The regime's offer was just freeing 50 detainees, not more.

Many hostages at the FSA are soldiers with high military ranks ranging from Lieutenant, to Captain and Majors, besides other regular soldiers, from Alawite sect.

Yesterday, detained officers requested from the media office in the FSA to re-film them and broadcast the videos on TV channels like Aljazeera and Alarabiya. Many Syrians insisted on publishing the video on pro-regime facebook pages and websites, hoping to form a pressure on the regime to act to free their relatives and love ones.

A detained colonel at Liwa al-Tawhid said: “all what we want from the regime to deal in our issue in the same way it dealt with Maaloula's Nuns and other Christian hostages, why it wastes time and refuses the exchange”

A member in Liwa al-Tawhid said: “despite they know the size of their crime, and we have documented crimes each one of the detained officers and soldiers committed, but we did not beat or harm them, we have arrested them for exchange with our detainees only”

Ignorance to detained soldiers has not limited to Syrian soldiers, but it has even reached to Russian government, as a Russian military expert was captured in Aleppo by the FSA and appealed to his government, but he did not hear any reply.
