PYD launches new conscription campaign in Hasaka

(Zaman Al Wasl)- The Kurdish PYD militia has launched new conscription campaign in northeastern Hasaka province, tracking hundreds of youth from Arabs and Kurds, local activist said Friday.

The campaign comes as Russia encourages the young men in the Kurdish-dominated area to join the Syrian regime's militias by high salaries and incentives.

About 200 fighters from the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) have joined the regime army for $400 each per month, according to activist Muhannad al-Yousef.

The Kurdish-led forces in Syria declared military victory over Daesh (ISIS) on March 23, ending a four-year battle against the group that once held territory spanning a third of Syria and Iraq.

But this victory has sparked fears of the Kurdish officials over new battel with the regime army or Turkish forces.

The Kurdish officials say the war is not over and the forces priority is being ready and mobilized
