Egypt’s Interior Ministry on Thursday announced that 11 armed attackers were killed in the country's northeastern Sinai region.
In a written statement, the ministry said clashes had erupted between security forces and an armed group in the Al-Arish city of North Sinai.
Egyptian authorities have in recent years been waging extensive operations in the region, where they say terror groups are based.
On Tuesday, twin bombing shook the Sinai Peninsula, leaving eight killed -- including five policemen -- and 27 others wounded.
