(Zaman Al Wasl)- Leishmaniasis disease has widely spread in eastern province of Raqqa as medic center reports more than 4000 cases.
Dr. Youssef Al-Naimi, head of the health center of Karama town, east of Raqqa city, said 4000 Leishmaniasis cases had been recorded, mostly among children in areas close to the sewers of the Euphrates River and due to the lack of protective pesticides.
Leishmania, locally known as Habbat Halab, or Aleppo Boil, appears in different parts of the body with face, hands and feet. It can present in three main ways: cutaneous, mucocutaneous, or visceral leishmaniasis.
