Poverty, deprivation and siege have not prevented Palestinians in Yarmouk camp from celebrating the Land Day that comes on the 30th of March.
The celebration started on Sunday morning in festive atmosphere, where the Palestinian revolutionary songs were chanting everywhere, and dozens of children were waving the Palestinian flag and echoing slogans to break the siege.
“we, people of Yarmouk refugee camp, confirm our right to return to the camp and to Palestine afterward”, that was written on one of the signs.
Yarmouk camp has been under severe siege for around 250 days, by Syrian regime, Hezbullah and Ahmad Jebril’s militia.
UNRWA claims that 18 thousand people still live in the camp, where food and medical service are extremely rare.
An agreement between fighting parties to allow food and medicine into the camp was put in place, however, Assad’s forces breached it and the situation returned to the previous hard status. There is some news to reach to another agreement. Translation by Yusra Ahmed
