Rebels' mortar hit Military Intelligence Headquarters in Deir Al Zor

A senior official in Assad’s military intelligence has been killed in clashes with rebels yesterday in the embattled city of Deir al-Zor, east Syria, activists reported.

The director of Military intelligence office in Deir al-Zor was killed due to mortar shell targeted his headquarters, according to activists.

In a related development, sources in regime-held neighborhoods inside the city said that the national army soldiers and the popular committees (Lijan militias) which have checkpoints in these areas began to put green cloth wristbands with sectarian phrases such as "Ya Hussein”.

Sources in these areas could not confirm such news due to the seriousness of the situation in these neighborhoods and the likelihood of immediate liquidation if soldiers in these checkpoints had any doubt in one of the passers’ loyalty to the revolution. Translation by Dani Murad
