US-backed forces feed discords among Arab Syrian tribes

(Zaman Al Wasl)- A tribal clashe broke out two weeks ago after an attack by the US-backed forces and allied tribesmen on the Albufrio tribe in Khabur region north of Deir Ezzor province.

The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched an attack on Al-Nimaliyah and Abu Al-Naitel villages, the stronghold of Albufrio tribe.

The SDF said members of the tribe had killed one of its fighters and the attack was in retaliation to his death.

The Albufrio tribe, in Facebook statement, has accused the Kuridsh-led forces of pushing neighboring tribes to fight, and of subjugating them to follow their agenda in the Khabur area, pointing out that their members took up arms after the burning of their houses and property.

The SDF used some members of Albujamel tribe and others to implement their agendas in the region. Also, the SDF has removed the barriers and provided weapons.

The SDF has been a key ally of the United States in the fight against Isis, and control a swathe of northern Syria since 2017.
