Syria's Muslim Brotherhood denies relationship with "The Islamic Council”


Muslim Brotherhood group in Syria has denied any relationship with the Syrian Islamic Council that has been formed days ago, to be considered an Islamic reference to the Syrian people. This declaration came after accusation of the Muslim Brotherhood of reforming and changing its tools to be politically active under religious cover.

Molham Dorobi, a representative of Muslim Brotherhood in the Syrian National Council confirmed that the organization was not invited in first place to participate in the council, although religious figures close to Muslim Brotherhood participated in forming it, through their religious, not political background, according to the Middle East newspaper.

40 religious associations and societies, with representative of the Islamic groups, gathered in Istanbul on 11-12 April, to announce formation of the Syrian Islamic Council after two days of working together. Sheikh Osama al-Rifaee declared that council would be the Islamic reference for Syrian people to organize their lives and looking into their public issues. Participants promised that council would follow the Islamic Sunni and Quran.
