In its latest interventions and violations in Syria, Hezbollah has set up monitor and spying devices on the main water reservoir in Masaken al-Shurta (En: Police Housing) in Najha south of Damascus, which is one of the most sensitive areas for the Syrian regime within the capital.
In documents obtained by Zaman Alwasl, a letter addressed to the Director of administrative affairs in regime’s ministry of interior, requesting the permission to allow Hezbollah’s soldiers to implant spying devices on the reservoir where a group of regime’s senior security officers live, in addition to being close to a cemetery visited by the head of the regime Bashar al-Assad with a group of senior government officials on several occasions among them the 6th of October war memory.
In the letter dated 3/12/2013 with no number mentioned, states literally: “Brigadier General Ghassan Abu Hassounn head of employees housing branch in the Ministry of Interior, is assigned to meet Brigadier Thaer Al Omar, head of counter-terrorism branch in the state security, and the latter confirmed that “the area falls within the scope of their operations and what is required are just secretly implanted spying devices on the highest site to conduct surveillance and security imperatives ", and the document was supervised by Gen. Hamid Asaad Al Muri head of administrative affairs in the Ministry of Interior.
To follow up, Zaman Alwasl went back to earlier published documents containing a list of all officers’ names in the state security body, and it turned out that Gen Thaer Al Omar holds number (64) on the list, and works in (295) branch of the state security, and the list also includes his civilian and military telephone numbers, personal fax, his rank and field of work.
The document debunks the" national sovereignty " claims many regime officials have pretended to care about, as in the most recently released statement by Bashar Al Assad’s political advisor, Buthina Shaaban who confirmed the cooperation with regime’s allies Russia, Iran and Hezbollah, but claimed, that in case of any contrary action from these allies, " we will favor and stand by our people’s interest”.
This document sheds the light on the efficient role that Hezbollah plays alongside the Syrian regime, not only in fighting but also in coordinating with its security forces in spying and surveillance against Syrians.
Najha, 6 Km from Sayyidah Zaynab shrine and 19 Km from the burning Yarmouk refugee Camp, which means that the usage of these eavesdropping devices in this site could open the field of frequencies on the south of Damascus , which is mostly rebel-held areas .
East of Njaha , lies Damascus –Sweida highway, and to its north Husseiniyeh camp , which has Palestinians – Syrian community , and then to the north there is Al Zyabia town , and then northward Sayeda Zeinab before we get to Al Yarmouk camp and then Al Hajjar al-Asswad .
Over the past year, Masaken Al-Shurta area has witnessed many clashes between FSA and Assad’s forces, and FSA were able to break into some of its neighborhoods last May.
Zaman Al Wasl has obtained more than 5,000 regime’s documents, and worked on archiving and editing the important ones to be published to the public, while withholding documents that could harm "the Syrian State” as an institution.
The documents which will be published reveal regime’s deals and armament conventions to counter the inside, especially documents signed by the interior Minister Mohammed al-Shaar.
Ghawar, a nick name for one of the most important sources of Zaman Alwasl, provided the secret documents to expose regimes crimes against Syrian people.
