Norris racing to make Belgian GP after suffering foot injury on holiday

McLaren driver Lando Norris is racing to be fit for the Belgian Grand Prix this weekend after the teenager suffered a foot injury on holiday.

Norris was wearing a supportive brace on his left leg during a live video stream as he raced online last night.

The 19-year-old has been on holiday in Croatia during Formula One's summer shutdown and McLaren say he inflamed a tendon while running.

McLaren insist the protective boot is a "precautionary measure" and are confident he will race this weekend.

But Norris admitted to being in extreme pain as the injury heals.

"I have got my leg support on (and) I'm dying," Norris said.

"I did so much walking today, and I am injured. It frickin' hurts."

Norris even joked that he would have to wear the protective boot while racing at Spa-Francorchamps -- one of the most demanding tracks on the Grand Prix calendar.

The English youngster is due to be back in the car in just four days' time for practice ahead of Sunday's race.

Norris has impressed during his maiden grand prix season, and he will continue to drive for McLaren next year.
