Assailants kill four policemen in Daraa

(Zaman Al Wasl)- Four policemen were killed Thursday when an armed group opened fire on their vehicle in southern Daraa province, state-run media reported.

No rebel group claimed responsibility for the attack that took place near the town of Muzayrib.

More than 130,000 pro-regime forces have been killed since the armed conflict erupted eight years ago with the brutal repression of protests against Bashar al-Assad, according to local monitoring groups.

The unstable security conditions in southern Daraa province has been leading to severe tensions due to the regime’s revenge policy, despite reconciliation deals.

Local activists say the frustration is mounting with regards to the regime’s security policies of arbitrary arrest and isolating the towns with military barriers.

Eight years of war in Syria have killed 560,000 people and driven half the pre-war population of 22 million from their homes, including more than 6 million as refugees to neighbouring countries.
