Aleppo: fire destroys 35 makeshift tents in displaced camp

(Zaman Al Wasl)- A huge fire broke out in a refugee camp in northern Aleppo province, destroying 35 makeshift tents and wounding four displaced, Civil Defense agency reported.

The fire was due to burning biled rubbish in the Albil camp near Soran town in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

Another fire broke out in the Hol camp northeastern Hasaka province on Saturday, left nine displaced wounded, mostly women and children.

Malaz al-Yousef told Zaman al-Wasl that three women and four children were wounded due to the fire that destroyed nine tents.

The sprawling camp in northern Hasaka province was opened in December 2018 to host people living in the Islamic Sate's territory taken over by the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

Eight years of war in Syria have killed 560,000 people and driven half the pre-war population of 22 million from their homes, including more than 6 million as refugees to neighbouring countries.
