Rebels surround Assad's biggest Military airports east Dumeir

 

 Syria’s rebels announced in statement taking control of strategic zone that links regime’s biggest military airports at the edge of eastern Qalamoun and desert area of Badiyat al-Sham on Monday.

The joint statement of al-Rahman Legion, Islam Army and Ahmed Al-Abdo battalion said the area between Dumeir military airport and Al-Seen military airport is under rebels’ control.

Rebels have made accelerated gains for the last 5 days since announcing the battle of 'Desert Storms'.

Days ago, rebels announced seizing control of the strategic highway that links Damascus with eastern Syria and Iraqi borders, as they killed dozens of Bashar al-Assad’s forces.

Baghdad International highway the vital route for supplies to Bashar al-Assad’s forces, activists said.

On Monday rebels seized control of al-Safa station, powerful stronghold for Assad forces, besides al-Badiya cement factory and base for anti-aircraft missiles, 50 miles east Damascus, near the Syrian-Iraqi borders.

Rebels also said they had targeted Dumeir airport by Grad missiles as well they shot down fighter jet and seized control of army depots near the airport. 

Zaman Alwasl Analyst Ahmed Khlaif said by taking control of the area between Dumeir city, 30 miles east Damascus, and Sabe’ Byar area, where most powerful Assad armory situated, the war has been taking a critical juncture for Assad’s army according the geographical area and unexpected skirmishes, he added.

Assad’ previous victories mostly were in border cities with Lebanon as Qussayr and Yabroud, getting advantage of ultimate support from theLebanese militia Hezbollah. But the war which is next-doored to the Iraqi borders will be different  as Dumeir desert linking to Joradn and Iraq in what they called Sad al-Risha, and more supplies can be delivered and even U.S support can be unstoppable, analyst  said.
